Lone Gull, Shop Around The Corner

Julie Borge working in Lone Gull
In today’s society everyone is focused on their own agenda, human interaction is reduced to e-mail and text messaging. The small corner cafes have disappeared, and chains like Dunkin’ Doughnuts and Starbucks have replaced them. They come standard with a drive-thru and automatic lines with barely any tables to sit down and enjoy a coffee if you so wished. Lone Gull Coffee Shop is taking society back to the basics, to when people could actually find a place to go in morning and sip coffee with their friends and family. Julie Borge opened the coffee shop in 2004 with the idea to bring back the personal feel a coffee shop should have. The shop is family owned and operated with close friends working as well. As she herself has two young children, she wanted the coffee shop to be friendly to all ages. From the wireless internet to the children books Lone Gull has an atmosphere where all people can find something to enjoy. Her strong beliefs of good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle are carried into the shop. Granola bars, all fruit smoothies, and cliff bars are just some of the options presented on the menu. Her idea of comfort mixed with uniqueness made Lone Gull the place it is today (Borge, 11/18/2008).
